Re: Power tools

I also have an Abu reel. One of the original closed face ones. It looks a little dated, but it knocks spots off of anything else for trotting a stick float on the river. Also very interesting what you say about heating components going back to brass! Great reels, built to last. With regards to boil...

Re: Power tools

Many years ago we always used Makita power tools at work, it was heavy duty work removing fireplaces & installing new ones. We noticed that over the years the Makita stuff gradually became poor quality, we moved over to Hitachi towards the end but generally most things aren’t as good quality as ...

Re: Improvised Faraday Cage...?

I need some advice regarding faraday cages/protection for an external hard drive, I am looking to protect an external HDD which contains important documents and family photos in the event of a solar flare or EMP event. The HDD isn’t much bigger than a mobile phone, it needs to be stored indoors (pro...

Re: No cost or low cost preps

In a time when the emphasis is on reusing and recycling it’s unbelievable that rubbish dumps have stopped people from taking items. A friend of mine made a good living for a few years repairing & reselling Dyson vacuums with parts salvaged from our local tip. We used to be able to collect empty ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

This week I have refilled one of our 13KG patio gas bottles (used for our gas barbecue) I like to keep them both filled up through the winter as a backup for emergency cooking if required, the barbecue has a hinged lid with a temperature gauge and can be used as a makeshift oven if required. I have ...

Re: Hi, new member from East Anglia.

Hi welcome,

Lovely part of the world you live in (very jealous) we spend a lot of time in your county along the Norfolk/Suffolk border.
I would move there in a heartbeat if I could!

Re: Tech.

My only real tech preps are powerbanks, which I use anyway when I’m out and about, I also keep a spare phone (a low end Nokia) as a backup for emergencies.

Hello from Lancashire

Hi everyone, I have lurked here for far too long so I have finally created an account. I am in my early 40’s, married with 4 children and live in Lancashire. I am an outdoors person, I love to be outside in all weathers, usually indulging in my main passion of angling! (much to the dismay of my long...
