Wood lengths, compost, gate bolts, solar lights

Good job I acquired 20 x 6’ lengths of wood, dozen bags of compost and padbolts to repair Gates, before lockdown hit. They were meant to be for summer jobs spread over a few weeks, but wood and bolts already been utilised for repairs and new projects. Compost stacked ready for plants for garden and ...

Re: Hair Clippers

Good thing about not being a people-person, have been cutting my own hair for the best part of 20 years, strange many don’t have a back up plan for times such as this, albeit a rarity. Keeping your hair from becoming a problem, doesn’t appear to have crossed minds That said, who’d have thought toile...

Re: So what have we learnt?

It’s been interesting to learn what are the most sought after items people were going for first. Also, was disappointed to see that some supermarkets didn’t appear to clean immaculately their freezers, shelves, etc., on a regular basis, the debris of leaked fluids, split bags, mould, etc., over what...

Re: Exercising at Home

I would advise to be careful if exercising, especially when/if rationing starts and you don’t have a great deal of supplies and variety of diet. It uses up energy fast if not eating as well as in normal life, leading to dizziness and feeling faint. Limit exercise, or spread routine throughout the da...

I’m not one for pasta, but unless it is a joke, Ann Summers I think has a shaped pasta for sale 3 for 2, but when you read what the shape is, it’ll make you waver about buying !

Re: Self Build to include a bunker

I guess calling it a bunker/panic room is a bad idea. Best something like basement games room, soundproof recording studio, etc., neighbours likely more accepting of such, especially if guaranteeing noise reduction as part of the planning. Sometimes using less worrying words or names for things will...

Re: Will there be food shortages in the UK?

Adapting to a new situation is a given, but prepping in order to at least get by with a bit of a modicum of comfort, at least in the initial stages of something long term, acquiring anything that helps the transition of having to not having, prevents an abrupt change of habits. That said, I do like ...

Re: Will there be food shortages in the UK?

I must admit to liking my teas and coffees, but never really considered buying powdered milk, or even checked to see if they still do that coffee-mate stuff...as recently read milk is also being depleted from shelves, and told to think about others more in need of stuff. Any recommendations for dece...

Re: Will there be food shortages in the UK?

I live alone, not a big eater as can’t afford to be anyway. Only tins and microwave dinners, plus sandwiches, making toast and pot noodles. No breakfasts, not always a lunch, dinners are definitely not knife and fork jobs, as in proper meals - can’t use cooker or oven. Don’t smoke, only vice being t...
