Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

Very interesting topic indeed. First one I’ve witnessed anyway, going deeply into the concept of lone wolves...but also the benefits of being in a ‘pack’ Much to be learned from books and documentaries on my favourite animal....wolves Learn more about group order than the hundreds of books about us ...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

Arwen Excellent reply to my post. You picked up very well on the concept of an Alpha, and the fact that some who do rise to the occasion and lead well. The flip side to this is what I would call a fake Alpha, convincing to a point until a crisis hits, then is seen to falter and fail, much like ‘pape...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

Raven Yes, indeed, lone wolf is a good term, free to move around no commitments to anybody. When you compare to a wolf pack, where there is a pecking order - Alpha Male Alpha Female - some may say that doesn’t exist in humans, but it does, I guess situations haven’t arose often enough for groups to ...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

I’m not sure if the connection is valid, but as I’d prefer not to be part of a community, I always liked the concept of the old mountain men, albeit not trapping, fighting bears, etc. Best example I can think of is the film Jeremiah Johnson, who opts to go into the wild, gradually adapting to his en...

Allotments Plan Adjoining Back Of Property

Not long found out that a large area of ground between two streets, one being my own, may be turned into allotments, that’d be good right ? It could mean having contacts with fellow gardeners, also the possibility of exchanging ideas, cuttings, veg, etc., also means this area usually unkempt and unc...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

No. Too many people...too many opinions...too many alpha-wannabes...worst of all...rules Prepping should be fluid to any situation that develops, individual choices, once you make it a community, in a way, you’ll just be another village/town, that just happens to live differently, likely averse to a...

Wood lengths, compost, gate bolts, solar lights

Good job I acquired 20 x 6’ lengths of wood, dozen bags of compost and padbolts to repair Gates, before lockdown hit. They were meant to be for summer jobs spread over a few weeks, but wood and bolts already been utilised for repairs and new projects. Compost stacked ready for plants for garden and ...

Re: Hair Clippers

Good thing about not being a people-person, have been cutting my own hair for the best part of 20 years, strange many don’t have a back up plan for times such as this, albeit a rarity. Keeping your hair from becoming a problem, doesn’t appear to have crossed minds That said, who’d have thought toile...

Re: So what have we learnt?

It’s been interesting to learn what are the most sought after items people were going for first. Also, was disappointed to see that some supermarkets didn’t appear to clean immaculately their freezers, shelves, etc., on a regular basis, the debris of leaked fluids, split bags, mould, etc., over what...

Re: Exercising at Home

I would advise to be careful if exercising, especially when/if rationing starts and you don’t have a great deal of supplies and variety of diet. It uses up energy fast if not eating as well as in normal life, leading to dizziness and feeling faint. Limit exercise, or spread routine throughout the da...
