today I managed to obtain several empty sweet jars from my local shop, always handy for storing flour or rice etc.

Hi Pete, i too have a copy of the LDS preparedness manual, it is amazing the amount of stuff that's listed there,its just a shame that we don't have LDS canneries here.

Chicken n rice soup

Ingredients. 2 good handfuls diced chicken ( preferably pre cooked ) 1 large white onion diced 1 large carrot finely diced. 1 Good handful rice (rinsed ) Salt, pepper, mixed herbs 900ml water Bring to the boil, then simmer for 20 mins ENJOY

Obviously I wouldn't be carrying all of that kit at one time, only the most essential items would go .

my 4x4 tarp. and lines and pegs for it.
sleeping bag ,roll mat and liner, groundsheet.
cook set, 14 cm pot, fire kit, water, spork.
first aid kit.
cordage (paracord ). knife,
Food.

What does the forum feel is the maximum weight to carry if you are bugging out ? I personally carry approximately 25 lbs on a long hike. what would be in your bag ( essentials ) to bug out? saint john first aid too.- I have a few others i use more often but its still worthy of its shelf space LDS -has to be my second choice. what does the forum think.

I would like to ask the members of the forum what they think of a four months stock pile of food and water.
How much is too much and how much is enough.
None of us knows when the shtf or how long it will last.
