As soon as this is over, it will take about 48 hours and Preppers will go back to being ‘Nutters’ .

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Did the last big shop I'll be doing for a while, no real shortages of anything in the shops aside from soap/hand sanitiser and in Asda barely any bog roll. Up to about two weeks of food and a good supply of cleaning stuff. One silver lining of this is that prepping is suddenly a lot more acceptable ...

Re: UK running short of surgical and dust masks.

Anyone ever wondered why SARS, Swine flu,and this one,oh yes,HN51,seem to all come out of China? China has a lot of people, it's well-connected globally and the healthcare network isn't first class. It's probably a blessing that these diseases appear in China rather than somewhere like India or Ind...

Re: Prepping and climate change

We are screwed.Read this, and accept it for what it's worth.I am a cynical basta#d - or a realist. https://consciousnessofsheep.co.uk/2020/01/20/today-were-mostly-cooking-on-gas/ Perhaps I'm naive but I'm optimistic that we can keep the amount of warming between 2 and 3 degrees. The conclusion of th...

Re: Prepping and climate change

One small mercy is that the UK and Ireland will be one of the areas of the planet that suffers least from climate change. No free pass, but better than Australia or India and a hell of a lot better than the Gulf States where by mid-century it's forecast that it will be far too warm (even in the shad...

Swisscard lite, use it all the time, particularly the scissors and pen. Just a bit thicker than a credit card.

Tin Can Cook

Picked up Jack Monroe's new book today and had a read through it. As the title suggests, it's all about cooking food from tin cans and has 75 recipes. I have to say, was very surprised at how original she's been with the recipes, looking forward to trying out a few of them. This is gonna add so much...

Re: Augmenting the stash: Pesto etc.

Think you've hit the nail on the head Jenny. I was flicking through one of those cold war guides and it recommended just stockpiling what amounted to wheat, salt, powdered milk and beans to survive off for six months. After six weeks of that you'd be ready to face the fallout, never mind six months.
