Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Mr A accused me of being a "doomsday prepper" the other day just because I bought 4 jars of cranberry sauce. They were cheap as it's now the season of eggs, bunnies and hot cross buns and not Christmas. They have a long shelf life but won't last that long because I love the stuff. Do you t...

Re: Preppers Library

I will add: Food for Free by Richard Mabey. Quite an old book but still useful today.

Re: Priory service register

That's useful to know and, like others on here, we are eligible, Mr A being a pensioner as will I be later this year. We don't need help at the moment but it's always good to be aware of these support services.

Re: Car v public transport

When we moved here, one of my "must haves" was public transport. Despite having held a driving license for a lot of years, I am a nervous driver and avoid it as much as possible. As we get older, the time may come when we can no longer drive due to our various infirmities. Problems arise w...

Re: Prepping when ill or infirm

Last summer, having arranged a same day appoinment with the GP, I announced to him that I was going on holiday that day. He disagreed and said the only place I was going was the nearest emergency department. Luckily Mr A was driving so dropped me off at the door and went to park the car. Guess who w...

Re: N.H.S. views and experiences

Went for an outpatient appointment yesterday - I've been waiting a year for it! Consultant said: "Well, we've got all your cardiology notes here but nothing about today's problem." How come only half of the notes had migrated 150 miles across the country? He then asked if I'd tried a parti...

Oh Gee Gee. How awful. I had to think of the size of an IBC to work out what 13 thousand litres was. My goodness, it's not surprising the damage that was done. What a way to end the year. I have no advice to give but I'm sending good vibes along the internet to you. Love and hugs.

Re: Preparing for Winter 2023/24

Oil tank's full, had a woodstove fitted in summer to beat the rush and that's had a couple of tries on some cool evenings. It's miserly with the wood compared with the open fire that was there before. Found the battery lanterns and there are plenty of batteries. Mr A bought an axe to chop wood for k...
