Re: New member

Depends on what your trying to prep for. Maybe a solar flare instance, maybe a team would be good. But, if its down to food supply then, you need to have the calories to keep them.

Re: Car headlights

I do have mine set on automatic switch on. I do find they switch even before I would do myself. Did notice something today though. I started the car after jumping in from the rain and the light were off. I wouldn't have put them on as I thought vision was good. But, as soon as I turned the wipers on...

Re: Radiation - war

I would have thought a nuclear winter would kill most vegetation, so there won't be much food. But I've not researched this. As far as I'm concerned, if there's a nuclear war, we're all gone. Agreed.the lucky ones will be those at ground zero People who live in London could go in the Underground. H...

Re: Radiation - war

It will probably come down to 1, How close you are to the bang. 2, If it a small exchange or they set the whole lot off. If all sides decide to use every last one, I think the best prep is always tell those you care about that you love them all the time. I doubt you would be leaving a bunker in your...

Re: Cash or card?

One thing that annoys me, some staff at self service if you have whisky with a tag. They come along to tell the machine you are over 18. They go away. You pay for the stuff. You don't start packing because the whisky still has a tag. And you want to pack that first because it's a heavy item. The sa...

Re: Cash or card?

They are just not laying off all the checkout staff, slowly making them multi skilled. As for money controls, I can sit here and open a new bank account online in minutes. I did so last year in the UK. But,on the flip side I went in to a bank in Croatia where I have a bank account already and it too...

Re: Cash or card?

I use the phone for most shopping. Everything is in the banking app. You get pie charts and stuff so you can see all types of spending. Plus, it send me a message if money goes in or out for the 3 main accounts. As for maned tills, days of little part time retirement job on the tills will likely be ...

Re: Ground slap - Earth movement

I don't know what this means exactly, but it obviously depends how far you are from the blast, and the type of blast. If the blast is on the ground, nearby, I guess there would be a movement of the soil. It would probably behave more like a liquid. If it was water you'd get a tsunami. So I'm guessi...

Ground slap - Earth movement

I can't seem to find any info on this as a measurement from a nuclear device. I was wondering how all the steel bunkers buried underground would deal with this ? Would this make this end up being peoples tombs ? Should you have some sort of plan on how to dig out from where you are ? Joinable pipes ...

Re: Our 5 day powercut in December 2022.

Sounds like you done well. Have you thought about usb heated items ? I'm currently wearing usb heated fingerless gloves. I got them 2 days ago and testing them out. It was a pack of 2 and 1 set feels hotter. I already have a body warmer that I use in the freezer at work -20 to -25ish. I can feel the...
