Re: Diesel Freezing warning

I have a rather first world problem, but the pipe that feeds the filtered water dispenser and ice machine on my fridge has frozen, it runs a short distance outside. That's never happened during the day before. That's your own fault for having a fridge that's too fancy for its own good. Our fridge i...

Medusa.
Make sure you consider the weight of your water stash if keeping it all in one place. I'm sure you already know, but I thought it worth mentioning. It wouldn't be wise to keep a few thousand litres of water in a DIY converted loft room for example.

Re: Checking new equipment

I had a very similar experience to the op the first time I used my MSR stove with liquid fuel. As you have to light a bowl of fuel to prime it you basically turn the whole thing into a ball of flames to get it lit. It's perfectly normal, but you really wouldn't want it to be a surprise the first tim...

Re: HEADTORCH 1000 LUMEN - ADVICE PLEASE

I think 1000 lumens with long run time, matched with a low profile compact design is a bit of a paradox. Running 1000 lumens for an extended period will need a beast of a battery, which will be bulky.

Re: Underground coating

As above, it depends what you are using to build it. I'd have thought using waterproofing additives for the concrete, and then tanking it would be best.

Re: Sleeping bag and food prep

What's your budget? With sleeping bags you are paying for lack of weight. You can get one that's warm and cheap, but it will be heavy. On a budget Snugpak do some pretty good stuff. The stove I have in the car is a whisperlite universal. I rate it as an emergency stove as you can use gas canisters, ...

What makes you think that being in the woods will be any safer than simply staying at home?

Re: Crypto robbery

The motive for theft doesn't have to be that the thief can gain from their actions, it's much more likely that depriving the victim of the 'currency' is enough. An awful lot of cyber attacks are designed to deprive others, rather than actually benefit from it. The best example is probably the DDoS a...

Re: Air Gun Licence for England ?

Do you know if we could have air rifles added to an existing FAC, or whether it would be a separate certificate? I did know a licence was required in NI, but I wasn't aware it was also in Scotland. How does it work there? Is it the same as the old rules for FAC air rifles (those over 12 ft/lb)?
