For Cooking in a pan a wood gas stove is likely a more efficient option

Re: Pepper fail during power outage

Good job it was a temp outage and not teotwawki. You really got the central heating on in June? Sounds like all you need to do is not leave the key in the side door. Maybe do a daily check of that, or weekly, at least. I have stuff like that in Apple Calendar and Reminders app. Make sure you have a...

Re: Pepper fail during power outage

The one thing thats better then learning from your mistakes, is learning from someone else's. Happy to take one for the team. :) I certainly learned stuff. USB-C charging bolstered. Garage access bolstered. To be made mains independent. Being reconsidered. Some garage based resources brought in-hou...

Impulse Buy. Bucket BBQ

Today's middle of Lidl buy: I think it's called a bucket BBQ. £13. Clearly meant to run on charcoal, if you'll forgive the silly question... How well would it work with just a few sticks of wood and maybe a bit of card to get it lit? Do I build the fire on top of the lower grid? And presumably I'd n...

Re: Vehicle Preps

It's a tiny thing and trivial, but I discovered, to my peril, that only one of the cars has USB-C charge point. In power outage, that was a last line of defense and we could have been without phone and internet.. So today i got USB-C adapter and assorted leads for the other car. Two is one and one i...

Re: Pepper fail during power outage

Power returned at about 9:30 pm. First job was to remove that blasted key from inside the door. Then charge the phone from near flat. Any manual over ride for the roller shutter? Time to start thinking of a aux power input for the garage to power the place from the outside to get the shutter up Defi...

Pepper fail during power outage

Fessing up. I failed! Power outage started about noon while I was at work. ETA for repair is late into the night, So driving home I smugly planned to dig out the camping stove and divert the inverter to the meat freezer and central heating. No biggy Now. The garage door is a virtually impregnable el...

Re: Wavian Jerry Cans for storing unleaded petrol

Apparently, you can store far more if you simply inform the appropriate authority. "If you wish to store more than 30 litres of petrol and up to a maximum of 275 litres of petrol at your home or premises you need to follow the legal requirements for doing this, which are: You should notify your...
