Re: Gloves and coronavirus

PPE is good for stopping cross contamination. i.e you wear a mask and gloves as you leave your home to go shopping, and then take them off (dispose of the gloves) and wash your hands once you get home. Don't listen to people saying masks are useless. If that were true HCPs and the whole of Asia woul...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4

I bought myself a Wild Country Zephyros 2 man tent from Blacks for £120. It only weighs 1800 grams, packs down small and would be ideal for a bug out bag. In the meantime I'm going to be using it for my numerous camps away with my Beaver Scouts and holidays, so extremely useful even if not needed in...

Re: New Prepper, some past experience.

Welcome to the forum, TheMach, I definitely think getting a shotgun is a good idea (shooting clays is great fun) and would suggest you go one further and apply for your FAC (Firearms Certificate) at the same time as that is also a good sport to get into. Just be careful when discussing firearms on t...

Re: Water collection / containers

Just got a letter off United Utilities this morning saying that they're going to be doing some work on the mains and that the quality of water may be affected. They say the water should still be safe to drink but I really don't believe that. I'm so glad I store water because I may need to use it ver...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4

jooqey, on the water front, you can also use any drinks containers that you would normally throw out. We purchase a lot of 2L Pepsi Max bottles in a week which before I started prepping would just be thrown away. Now I simply take off the labels, wash them out and fill them with water and store them...

17p! Amazing value. £2.10 for 12 litres in tesco :( A good feeling when I got to 30 days water supply. And welcome :) MM Thank you for the links, that will be the next on my list. Over the last couple of weeks I have stored 40 litres of bottled water. Aldi does a bottled still spring water for 17p ...

Any book like that is good stuff. You can also find lots of good information online and on places like YouTube too. I personally have learnt a lot through elderly family members who have passed down lessons through oral retelling. Also, if you're going to be using trees it's good to learn how to ide...

Re: Water collection / containers

Those ceramics looks great. Do you mind me asking how you got your last lot? If I recall correctly, I got them from fleabay. I'll have a look and see if I can find them. They are for fishponds, but worked really well in the waterbutts to keep the water clear. Edit: I got them from Harrod Horticultu...

This weeks Preps... More Water. More Rice. MM No cheese? :o Couldn't resist. On topic - Am currently researching antibiotics, and which to possibly buy/store. You might also want to take a look at medicinal trees rather than plants as trees are there all year round. You can use their bark...

Re: Water collection / containers

My primary plan is to stay at home. I would only ever leave it as a last resort as you give up so much when you effectively make yourself a refugee. What do people think of this Reverse Osmosis filter? Is this thing really going to get rid of everything? http://www.eastmidlandswater.com/Details.asp...
