Re: Student journalist looking to speak to some of you
I think you might get more responses if you set your sights lower adamc; I don't know many people who are willing to meet a random stranger and discuss what for many preppers is a private hobby/way of life. You might be better served by asking specific questions for quantitative data and more open e...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4
Thanks mate, nice to have some info. An exterior frame might be the way for me, the ability to fashion clips and clamps onto a wheelchair or walker-frame is inviting. I was fine with frame packs until frameless packs became the thing to have, and I, like most, was dazzled by the bling of it all. I ...

Cool, you got one ! How is it on the contact points to the body ? I looked at it myself but thought I would have to get some PLCE hip pads for the waist belt. It is surprisingly comfortable and holds way more than the stated 35L. I think it has to do with the design of the pack itself; most modern ...

Re: SHELTER OPTIONS
The best compromise between weight and price I've been able to find is the DD SuperLight Tarp Tent. It weights in at an incredible 710g and costs only £135 which is ridiculously good for such a lightweight tent.

I've added some steel wool and a Duracell 9V battery to my everyday carry firelighting kit. Just press the battery to the steel wool completing the circuit and the stuff goes up in flames even when wet. I also purchased a Swedish Army LK35 backpack made by Haglofs for £20 from Military Mart. Bargain...

Re: Skills Vs Stuff
I made a thread about this very topic a while back that you may find useful. http://www.uk-preppers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14177 As others have said, I definitely think you need a balance of the two but that a lot of people fall into the trap of acquiring gear over obtaining skills - t...

Re: How is prepping different in the UK?
Yeah as another regular shooter, it annoys me how many people don't know UK law in relation to firearms. I mean, legally you can own a .50 BMG!! And while semi automatic rifles are restricted to section 5 (pretty much impossible to obtain for your average citizen) there are loopholes in the law allo...

Re: Geiger counters
If this is your particular prepping fantasy then crack on but don't be surprised that we don't all buy into it, other 'issues' will concern other people, you can be as evangelical as you like but don't be surprised if some are doubting. Now Zombies...... Radiation doesn't even come into my preps. I...

Re: Geiger counters
I think there is a difference between putting a view point out there and being openly mocked. There is a proven link between radiation and cancer. That has been known for years. It's not a fear, how can it be when there's literally nothing we can do about it. Easy tiger, mocking is a bit strong, yo...
