Re: Using old Diesel

I'm pleased you've asked this question as I too have (a few) cans of diesel that have been in storage for far too long (maybe three or four years). I hesitate to use the fuel but don't know how to dispose of it sensibly. At the local recycling centre they don't even accept empty fuel cans let alone ...

Re: Do You Feel We Are Heading For The Perfect Storm?

I don't worry about riots where I live I'm lucky I'm rural but living in a big city I would be getting very worried. The police struggled last time abandoning London till re-enforcements arrived from the shires. This time I don't think it will be just London but all the biggest city's. In 2011 the ...

Re: prep fail

Thanks for posting that. I'm immediately dashing to the garage to check a large bag of bbq charcoal I've been storing for several years now. I kept it for exactly the same reason; to be able to cook in an emergency if power supplies are disrupted. Didn't think it might deteriorate in any way. :o

Re: Echo Pharmacy being delayed

I will not use either our local pharmacy delivery service or any of these online delivery services; we hear too many tales of either wrong tablets being delivered or deliveries being late. Quite often this happens to the elderly or people with quite acute conditions who cannot afford their medicatio...

Re: I’m new hello

Hi there PeachyPrep, and welcome. You'll find quite a few of us here are in Norfolk. Having said that we're all quite a secretive bunch and (wisely) don't tend to give our locations away. If it's to do with prepping, whatever you need to know, however trivial or obscure, someone here will be able to...

Re: Who thinks a space earth ship is the ultimate idea?

I thought about something similar a few years ago in case everywhere flooded. I reckoned if you were an engineer (I'm not!) You could probably build a huge metal sphere, covered with rubber/tyres on the outside, that would just roll, in the waves/water. Inside you would live in another inner sphere...

Lovely part of the world you live in (very jealous) we spend a lot of time in your county along the Norfolk/Suffolk border.
I would move there in a heartbeat if I could!
We're very fussy about who we let into Norfolk of course. ;)

Re: Storing diesel? Long term?

I have several 10 litre and 20 litre jerry cans. They are normally filled--stored--used in strict rotation, some being used every month and kept for a maximum of 1 year. It's only the lockdown restrictions and lack of wanting to go anywhere in the last few months which has led to storing fuel for lo...

Re: Storing diesel? Long term?

I am currently using diesel which has been stored for sixteen months. It seems fine. It is possible to buy special diesel fuel stabiliser if you want to store it for even longer.

Re: How ready are you?

As ready as we think we are for our various bug-in / bug-out scenarios, there is always something else to do. This is so true. "I could do with more tins of potatoes; I'd better install another security light on the shed; are two packs of batteries enough, no I'd better get a third pack; can I...
