Only just seen this post..But i'd like to add my 2 cents on this topic as i feel i am quite well placed. I work fulltime at a large UK airport . This is something that has been taken very seriously by all of the airports and the CAA have taken great steps to roll out many contingencies regards this....

Yea im a manual worker too been a chippy since i left school...manual labour takes its too on you in different ways my knees are suffering an my backs an issue all by the age of 35..i guess its all about mitigating the damge though. It does seem like people make excuses to get out of it though..i lo...

Its actually just a bit of old oak floor board i had from a job i done at Bedford council offices...i just took a blow torch to it and rubbed some old teabags over it to make it look like olive wood..worked out quite well i think . Think ill do a couple more from blanks until i attempt one from a pi...

I reckon all in once i got over making stupid mistakes like not mixing up the epoxy correctly an settling on a scale material i understood it took me around 5 hrs not including leaving the epoxy to go off over night. I reckon as long as you have paitience and are prepared for some silly mistakes hol...

IMG_9231.JPG This is my first attempt at knife making with a blank..(previous attempt i tried to make the full thing but managed to grind to fine of a edge on it an wrecked the steel ...learned a hard lesson there !) The blade blank i used was a "Condor Bushlore" only cost £22 ..after one...

Alrite mate, I'm in the same boat as yourself i live bout 7 miles from Bedford town..the Mrs doesn't think i'm too mad for wanting security for our family but like yourself its not the kind of thing you can just pop into conversation with average joe . Hi all, I've been prepping for about 3 years and trying to get to know preppers near Bedford and was told this may be a good starting point.
