Re: Who thinks a space earth ship is the ultimate idea?

Just watch a couple of episodes of "Big Brother". Now, do you really think that mankind can survive being cooped up together? [Acknowledging that the contestants are not your 'average Joe']

Re: winter..... and batteries...

Yes, mine has recently needed convincing a second time before staring. Maybe I need to replace. However - I was also thinking, is it partly down to the cold and would there be any way in which you could attach a small slave battery as a "keep warm and alive" type. I bow to your greater kno...

Re: Off grid power

Are you calling my panels "inadequate"?! Yes, you are probably right. This is only a play around with project at present, which I'm planning to build upon. The panels are just those fold-up RV/boat ones which will trickle (on the sunniest day of the year?). I currently have a 105ah battery...

Off grid power

Just started a small scale electrical back-up project. I live in a village which has suffered a few outages in the past. It's knowing where to put your money which flummoxes me. Solar is supposed to be the answer, but I live with a 21C family including three teenagers. :( A bit of a challenge. We ha...

Re: I'm making a film - can you help?

Good luck. Ex-Beeb myself. Not off-grid, but have just started with collecting a few bits on the food side and also starting a project on mains/solar electricity for emergencies (we have had a few outages in the past). I know a couple of bods who have gone small holding, but they tend to keep themse...

Re: Air Gun Licence for England ?

Unfortunately, UK Gov's answer to any challenge seems to be create a new law, not to fund adequate enforcement of the already adequate legislation we have with most issues in this country. My solution: a licence to have an MP. Must be kept securely locked away and only brought out when there are saf...

Re: Spectacles

I carry a spare pair of foldable reading glasses, which come in a lozenge shaped container. Small enough to carry in the pocket. Available from all decent book stores.

Re: Bulk Mylar Bags & Oxygen Absorbers Purchase

When I bought oxygen absorbent bags they were nicely sealed in an airtight bag, but all in the one. Would have been useful if they could have been sealed in separate pouches to allow for not having to use all at once. I lost several.
