Re: New member: Angus, Scotland. Newish Prepper.

Honestly pretty much the only thing I'm throwing in the river is my magnet lol. I'm doing a fair whack of fabricating work atm and as the local river just here is public I don't think anyone cares if I go dragging the odd security fence or piece of angle iron from the water lol.

Scotland Ordanance Survey

Hey guys been a while since I've posted up but found something I think might be useful to some. http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/ordnance-survey-map-series/list/os6inch/angus Although the interactive map is supposed to be covering just angus (there may be ways to alter this I haven't investigated t...

Re: Vaseline pocket sized tins...?

Oh just thought, use a tin for making charcloth, that'll light with a spark then. It was one of my thoughts but the tins are still on the 'bijou' side although better than nothing I guess. If I'm planning on needing something like charcloth I'd rather have a healthier supply and it would be a more ...

Re: Vaseline pocket sized tins...?

Are they big enough for cotton pads soaked in Vaseline or wax for fire starters? I'm not actually sure. I don't actually use any form of fire lighter when lighting a fire but wihtout a doubt they can certainly be handy in the correct (or rather wrong) conditions. I'm hoping the attached picture wil...

Re: Vaseline pocket sized tins...?

I must admit I hadn't thought of air gun pellets (this item is out of bounds for me until the SHTF) and I already make my own candles (the paraffin acts double as lubricant for wood screws as does the bees wax although I'm not sure I'd trust the honey not to attract moisture) which these would be fa...

Vaseline pocket sized tins...?

I've recently acquired a small number of the small pocket sized tins (pictured with post) and I'm actually struggling to find uses for these handy little tins beyond acting as matchboxes (which if cut to size they hold an impressive amount of matches and striker) or small boxes for dry tinder. I'm c...

Re: Advice on raised beds please

I have a bit of space at the back of the house which I'm presuming the former owners had a greenhouse or shed on as it's concreted and has a drainage channel. Would this be a good place to put a raised bed? Sunlight in the afternoon to early evening but shaded for the rest of the day. SO and I are ...
