Re: Micro survival kits

Personally my opinion is they are gimmicky. I don't see how they could be any better for you or would make you better prepared then, say, carrying a survival tin which is only a bit bigger and can fit more gear in them. If you were literally on the brink of a no-hope situation and you only had a car...

Re: Hot Cans - Anyone tried them??

Ive had these before at work. They are not amazing to be honest but they serve a purpose I suppose. Wouldn't buy lots of them - they are expensive for what they are. And yea as previously said British MOD ration packs and US MRE'S are a better investment if that's the sort of thing you're after. Als...

Re: Nuclear War The Facts On Our Survival: Peter Goodwin

There is only 1 other copy of this book I can see on fleabay item number 191818790905 if you're interested. Alternatively I saw that Amazon sells them too mostly second hand. I have the US Army Manual FM21-76 which covers a small section on nuclear survival and yes, you're right - Lofty Wiseman's SA...

Nuclear War The Facts On Our Survival: Peter Goodwin

I bought this book on fleabay for a cheap £2.50 plus £1 postage second hand. One of my preps is for nuclear war, a controversial subject that I am also fascinated and curious about. Although this book is over well 30 years old now it is actually still surprisingly relevant to today's worries, politi...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

Bought a load more new/ second hand survival, bushcraft, prepping type books to boost my reading material. Although I love the convenience of PDF's and electronic reading I still prefer good old fashioned physical copies of books and studying them.

I've also completely overhauled my EDC.

Re: Vehicle preps

Besides the fact that checking your car before any journey is well worth it's weight in gold to make sure it's safe to drive and road legal, ultimately checking your car (especially before a long journey) is worth doing just because it's your life and others at stake if something goes wrong on the r...

Re: I thought I was prepping

Some good advice knocking around here. I think what you are having waves of is "usual life routines". Everyone has a life outside of prepping and everyone has a different way of prepping. I must admit I am guilty of that myself 100%. I've got a nice little stock pile going on, more than th...

Re: Off grid living 30's style

I take my hat off to people who want to "live the experience" and get a feel for what it would have been like back then. However I do find this slightly strange in my opinion - the bit where she has an actual Anderson shelter and uses it to run to, as she put it "This is my Anderson s...

Re: Foodbuckets

This is no refection on you, EMT, but make your own food bucket. It's cheaper (my 25 ltr bucket with my rations has cost me around £50) and you put your own personalised contents in it - which in my mind is a no brainer as you know exactly what you are getting. I have long life energy sweets, comfor...
