I've noticed the local pound shops are selling led head torches. They are big-ish and cheaply made (the elastic headband ir very poor) but they give a good strong beam and the only cost a pound (mine was 99p) the ones I found use three AA batteries and last a good while. Could be handy for emergency...

If your really concerned about security, how about putting some fake markings on the map too, you could code them so you know the real from the fake and it doubles or trebles the workload for anyone clever enough to figure out your UV trick.
