Re: How long is safe?

I keep about 200L ready use, 6 25L containers (I've a 7th that I was planning on adding to the stash but I've a half notion to try and conceal it at my fav wild camping site) and other bottles. I also keep several pop/juice bottles/cans of pop/juice and also fresh orange/apple, its stuff we use so ...

Re: How long is safe?

Considering how quickly water goes down when mains is turned off/not available, i don't think storing water long term is too much of an issue. For a modern family in a house, most people conservatively use around 100 litres per day. In an emergency, for two people cutting that right down to 5l per p...

Re: Winter.

I've been looking at more preventative weather protection for when it eventually turns, as it'll no doubt be thunderstorms and heavy prolonged rain leading to flooding, so looking at renewing the roof covering on the shed and making sure gutters are clear, slates are all in place and none loose, and...

Re: Close combat self defense

As much as the physical side of self-defence/martial arts seems impressive, there's a lot to be said for the conflict resolution side way too, knowing how to talk to people, how to react to threats, the threat of force etc can be far more useful than being able to give someone a kicking. A few years...

Re: Venezuela

Thanks for the very useful insight. I'm not sure if you still have contact with this person but I wonder how valued (or not) Gold is over there right now, in other words in their real-world situation is/would it be useful there right now given that cash (currency) value has plummeted? Be interested...

Re: Living in a van or off a small plot.

Thanks for replies as always, no cannot stay at mums, to far to commute, so for the immediate future I’ll stay in car, far from ideal but although they haven’t asked about convictions yet, they could when I give them my national insurance number etc, if they don’t ask I could stay on a camp site fo...

Re: Living in a van or off a small plot.

Ok, many, many thanks for all your replies and help. To go from the top, two and a half years ago i was falsely accused of a crime, hence started the complete destruction of my life and i mean complete, if any of you are EVER accused of something then believe this; you are guilty until proven innoc...

Re: Living in a van or off a small plot.

Sorry to hear of your unhappy situation, but always remember it will get better. Living off grid is hard work, and doing it in a camper/trailer/container/tent is really hard work. My partner and I did it for about five years, and although done as more of a lifestyle-experiment-enjoyment-why-not? thi...

Re: Reevaluating and resupplying

My strength is fine, I'm not delusional, its not what it was but apart from the odd injury that throws a curve ball my way (arthritic elbow being the main one) I'm still a fairly strong guy. My stamina is a lot poorer and my days of running up hills (or pretty much anywhere faster than a jog for an...

Welcome to the forum. Just a heads up, we're not big on the weapons chat and like to keep it all legal. Hope you find the site useful. welcome to the forum, I think what Deeps was getting at, is that most on the forum don't consider carrying weapons to be a good idea regardless of legality. There a...
