Yup works for me.I have a 14 v that works a 9.6 v and couple others I think 12 v ish.
Just identify Plus and minus on battery with multi tester.
If battery dead utilise it to make up your 12 v plug adapter.safer that way .
Good wire.

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

Yes keep eye on Facebook marketplace. Am fm 80 channel multi norm. Many modern multi norm radios are simple to expand however the freq will be dead quiet until propagation hits. So are pretty useless unless both your radios have same then it buys you some privacy. Locally me and couple mates use old...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

https://www.wearecb.com/testing-cb-antenna-ground.html have a quick look at this.unfortunately yes even a ground earth from a antenna can react and become a part of the antenna physical length. Look don't over think it , get a radio or 2. A antenna and if required a amp a decent swr meter with power...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

Earthing battery. Whilst I would earth the battery radio as well as a earth from radio shortest wire to chassis too.
I'm not sure to antenna would help much due to wire length

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

Totally understand , yup door frame or a fabricated mount to slip under bonnet edge Keep googling, look landy forums or cb radio antennas on off road or 4x4 for ideas. Wheel mount on bonnet could be good too .Keep looking and it may even take a couple attempts to find best position. Yup alloy can be...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

Was a good choice. The 5' mk2 have the adjustable screw top under the rubber cap. I tend to remove mine coat in dielectric grease on thread . Ok the frame on the back that holds the canvas cover up if it's possible to have the antenna mount on that close to centre on one side of roof.the height will...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

You can use 2 matching antennas and a co-phase maybe many truckers do this or at least did back in the day and in states most big wheelers practiced it. Don't over think the antenna install I'm sure it will be fine ,not all antennas can be mounted centrally on vehicles.theirs always a compromise on ...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?

Firestik are good antennas pretty tough and the 11 later model a doddle to swr. Mounting on bullbar will work but at a sacrifice on signals in some direction . If you imagine a round tin lid.you put a antenna dead centre you will get equal radiation and signal receiving equally all around.if your an...

Re: Looking for CB Beginner info

What's called a fag packet cb radio due to tiny size. Had one and it was v good . Their is a good YouTube by simonthewizzard about the crt version and how it can be expanded to cover hundreds more frequencies and power increase. Power wise I wouldn't go their ,too little heatsink unless fan added ,h...
