Re: Bugging out this week

Well you were certainly right about taking longer than expected. The house is STILL not finished! I'm just about ready to strangle most of the tradesmen. The most annoying part of it is that we are capable of doing most of the plumbing and electrical work ourselves (and, in fact, Grumpy has often ha...

Re: Bugging out this week

Thanks Jamie. In the end the guy that manufactured our kit frame added us to his insurance for the duration of the build. We're suffering now in the cold weather been regretting it for the last few days - had a bit of a cry yesterday  Finally managed to get the builders to put in the foundatio...

Re: Bugging out this week

Thanks for the advice Jamie. I just wrote a really long reply and then the library computer told me I only had a few minutes left so I saved the draft in case I got cut off... and now I can't find it! :? Oh dear. Doesn't bode well for someone who's doing all the admin for a house build does it?! Bui...

Re: Bugging out this week

Thanks for all the good wishes and the advice :) We've been thinking about the HUBi, Bramble. Told the kids we might ask for one as a combined birthday and Xmas present. (They're used to weird requests - a few years ago I asked for an 8ft tree and Grumpy got 25 saplings :D ) At the moment we seem ab...

Bugging out this week

Well, we've finally gone off the deep end! Today we handed over a large portion of our lovingly hoarded "apocalypse stores" to our sons and, if nothing goes drastically wrong at the last minute, we'll be moving out of our house on Wednesday and going 300 miles further north to live in a ca...

Re: Would you move?

You never mentioned the muscular, sweating semi naked men................... Seriously. It looks beautiful, truly beautiful Of course I will need some eye candy if I move and preferably someone like that to also keep my bed warm during those long cold winter nights. Definitely

Re: Importance of a filter!

What sort of tanks are you using?
I ask because you mentioned painting them with NATO paint to make them less opaque. We have 4 of the IBC cubes and we really do need to find some way of covering or painting them. What is NATO paint and where does one get it?

Re: What's your thoughts on an EMP?

So would even something like an old Land Rover Defender still have a stop solenoid in the pump?

Re: What's your thoughts on an EMP?

The subject of cars and EMPs came up in our car yesterday (after we passed a Land Rover defender and spent the now compulsory few minutes of mourning...) and my son asked me whether you could still start a car with electronic ignition by rolling it down a hill. I had to say I have absolutely no idea...
