Re: Baofeng UV-5R
Fanks lads, I'm convinced. I'll be purchasing one imminently. I keep seeing videos showing how to set them up and it looks complicated, but it's worth a crack I reckon. One more quick question - if I got two, can they communicate to each other easily? What is the predicted range in an urban vs coun...

Re: Foundation course
Well finally the evening of the exam arrived, the last week seems to have really dragged, but at 7.00pm this evening the class opened our test sheets. :D There were a couple of tricky questions & some did better than others but the good news is that early indications are that we all passed. Thi...

Re: What am I doing wrong? Sharpening is a pain!
I think the paper thing is really standard - if I use a slightly sawing motion the blades I have already cut through paper quite cleanly. But it's just not good enough for my liking. :) Metatron, any chance of a link? Knock off sounds perfect because knock off indicates cheap. :D I think I'm going ...

Re: What am I doing wrong? Sharpening is a pain!
I have seen a vid on youtube in which a guy makes a wheel out of MDF and attaches it to his bench grinder and polishes such a razor sharp edge on his knives they actually slice through paper. Sorry i couldn't find the link, but there is quite a few vids on the same subject on there. Maybe this will ...

Went down to my land and cut more firewood for the log burner, i have just busted 2 new chains on the stihl, i wish people wouldn't nail things to trees, it costs me money in new chains.
However 2 more large trailer loads are now chopped and split in the woodshed ready for this winter.

Thanks Mendologist, as I've said I'm waiting on the lead. I've just checked as the crow flies WF, it's only 35 miles across the Mersey to GB3CR. What height can I have the mast? They come in six foot lengths. I'm worried about them snapping if they're too high. My wallet is going to take a hiding t...
