Going lightweight. Dutch bivi.

Not been on for a while but i've not been idle. I just ordered a Dutch Hooped Bivi for an upcoming wildcamp. I'll be travelling on a motorcycle and just kipping down overnight where ever I find a suitable spot. Right now i'm trying to cut down the weight of my kit. Aside from the bivi I have a Snugp...

Re: stove

I've just got back from an overnight wild camp out in North Yorkshire. I took a Hexi cooker in the bottom of my bag just in case but the main cooker was a Vango Portable Gas Burner (screw on type) and a Coleman C500 gas canister. I cooked my meals in a small aluminium cook pot that I picked up from ...

Eneloop type batteries 4xAA for 3.99 Emergency Candles for .50c Unfortunately I couldn't pickup too much as my funds wouldn't stretch too far but for sure next time I go it'll be with a fair amount ...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Waiting on a British Army Issue Sleeping Bag Liner. Used my eBay Nectar points to cover the cost so it's essentially a freebie :P I picked up a lightweight packable liner from Trespass but it doesn't seem to be too big. I'm 5' 5" and barely fit into it so hopefully an ex-army one will be a bit ...

Sleeping roll. Store separately or together?

So now i've got Sleeping Bag / Bivvy / Liner / Inflatable Mat / Foam Mat. Should I put the whole combo together in one stuff/compression sack or should I keep it all in their separate stuff sacks? The foam mat is not that important but as I have it, it could be used as another layer to keep the grou...

Re: Sleeping bag liner?

Got one on order. Found a polycotton one from Trespass for £5.99 so that'll do me nicely. I'm going to Germany for a week very shortly so i'll take this along to doss in instead of the hotel sheets. If the story recounted earlier is anything to go by, I don't want to sleeping in sheets with stains f...

Re: Sleeping bag liner?

If you want to keep your sleeping bag clean and make it last longer then a liner is a must. Looks like it might be a worthwhile investment then. Given their relatively low price i'll pick up when I can. You will however have endless nightmares where you have your legs tied together (kidnapped, bung...
