Pencil Sharpeners

Heat from a ferro rod and steel works on magnesium fire blocks though? You might be right on 'newer' ones not working as well as older sharpeners

Pencil Sharpeners

If I remember correctly; older pencil sharpeners were made of magnesium, so a great gadget for gaining wood shavings and scrape a bit of magnesium off for a good tinder bundle...

MY EDC BAG LIST

Emergency cash; I have some of those coin cards for £1 coins and a spare £20 note x2. A flash drive may be useful depending on your day to day. A recommendation is to have digital copies of ALL your important documents on this (obviously, security protected). I've found this useful for when I've nee...

Sleeping bag liner?

I'd recommend a silk liner if poss; better at regulating temp especially in high heat as it doesn't soak up sweat. Packs smaller and dries within minutes. Always easier to wash a liner as opposed to a bag and good for travel as it helps keep unkempt mattresses at a distance; albeit a small one! I wo...

Optimus Crux / Jetboil Alternative

If you want an alternative to the JetBoil, get one of these: https://www.alpkit.com/products/brukit I've just got one (this week) and it is high quality and basically identical to the JetBoil in all regards, except for the price. stove

I have and use the woodburning stove purely because my prepping centers around INCH and taking a gas, hex or liquid fuel stove is only going to last for as long as your fuel does. Having said that though, I do pack a hex stove with the intention of using that until the tablets are exhausted. Then i...

rope

Definitely not manufactured for any human weight bearing activities! It would be ok for a general line to use for everyday stuff but it's breaking strain is around 0 in my opinion; it probably wouldn't stand up to much abuse, might be ok for tarps and tentage but I reckon it'll definitely lose stren...
