Re: What to do with windows in a SHTF situation

ForgeCorvus, absolutely, those wooden shutters are lovely, and they give a great feeling to the room. Sadly, not many houses have them :( We have had shutters fitted to our bay window. They were not cheap but you could have them fitted retrospectively. They look great and people just assume it's a ...

Re: FLEAS!

When my moggies had fleas a few years ago we used indorex to treat the house. The stuff was amazing. We got it from a well known online retailer but I noticed today that the vets stocked the stuff. I tried some off the shelf ones and they just did not work. The only downside was that we all had to v...

Re: Quantities of medicines

I got cought out last year when I had a bad back. I was shocked at how quickly we went through paracetamol when I could not get out to replenish stocks. I now keep a minimum of 2 weeks per person of the basics like paracetamol, ibuprofen and stuff for an upset stomach (The basics really) in the hous...

Re: anti inflammatory cream

Other people may know this, but I didn't. The generic ibuprofen gel on the shelf is a lower strength than what is behind the counter. In tesco it even worked out better value to buy it from the pharmacy.

I made some apple infused vodka as well, that got filtered and bottled today, going to make my first apple martini out of it later to give it a test. :)

Edit: I have an apple martini now and it's rather nice, I'll infuse some more vodka!
Hi Jamesey, how do you make your Apple infused vodka? :D

Re: Mamoth Courgettes

I had giant courgettes one year too and found you can also put it in cake. It was lovely. I just google a few different recipes and tried them but it was a great way to use them up as we got a bit fed up of eating them.

Re: Cyber attack on hospitals and other essentials

just a quick reply regarding medications, in a SHTF situation DO NOT GO TO A/E if you need meds, we dont have a stock of medications, and the ones we do have are not for specialist conditions such as insulins/hypertension/certain pain medications such as gabapentin for nerve pain or anti seizure me...

Re: Cyber attack on hospitals and other essentials

If you have a hard copy of your prescription you can get emergency medicine from the pharmacy. Not all pharmacys seem to know this but I've just showed them the Web page and managed to eventually get it. Ive done this before when on hols, just said that I've forgot my meds and need two weeks worth t...

Re: Smoking in a post SHTF World

I have been on the vapouriser for 15 months now, cant seem to do the whole shebang, what with all the other health and medication issues. Excuses, excuses. :( My OH has been on his for at least two years now and shows no sign of quitting. To be fair to him he has dropped to zero nicotine (most of t...
