Re: Desiccant Sachets
What a good idea! Have you thought about using cotton for the material or would that not work? This is what I'm not sure about Decaff. Don't know if fabric will absorb moisture too and go ... fusty? I'll be using these in the garage where it's totally unheated and I want to be sure they won't go mo...

Desiccant Sachets
Not sure if this comes under this topic, but, having spent a fortune on those desiccant sachets, I decided to DIM (Do It Myself). They're useful for all sorts of stuff, eg inside shoe boxes to keep them bone dry and sweet smelling and inside camera cases, etc. Now that I'm prepping, I've graduated o...

Re: Erm... Pot Noodles!
I've recently rotated a pack of the beef and tomato pot noodles into my cupboards, I don't mind them with a bread roll or toast. Add lots of ketchup and or chives/herbs and theyre not bad. They don't taste that great if they go too far over the eat by date, they should be indestructable as its all ...

Also want to know where the public 'phone boxes are - anyone know if there's an on-line resource for that? I've been doing some research on that myself - there's no national information out there at all :( There's the odd enthusiast collecting numbers, or private companies that will charge you a co...

Can't seem to "quote" at the moment, so re shelving, very impressed with Big Dug shelving - holds hundreds of kilos per shelf and it does do the job (we got the all-metal version). Heavy 5 gallon buckets of things like salt or lentils are no problem at all. We got two sets of deep shelving...

Morphine based pain killers and anti inflamatories for a buggered back, got a couple of months supply in, but should the SHTF and law and order break down long term the only thing i could think of would be growing your own dope to act as a natural pain killer. I have stopped a couple of times to se...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
Ordered another 84l Really Useful Box for the additional heating/lighting/cooking preps to go out onto the Big Dug shelving in the garage, plus a corded 'phone, which can be used in our bedroom, as a useful back-up in case the power goes out (as it did briefly today LOL!). Continuing to build preppi...

Good to stock on bread making goodies, I've been doing the same thing at Chez Decaff the last couple of weeks, will get more but need to finish freezing and storing the packs I have first before getting more. Tesco were selling their mixes for 45pence plus 3 for 2 so I did stock up rather a few bag...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
Only been doing a bit here and there as there's been so much else to do, but other than stocking up on things like Home Bargains candles (3 different sizes £2.99), which I discovered burn really well, cleanly and for ages and a lot more cans and jars over the last few weeks, I've mainly been re-orga...
