Re: Common "prepper" freq

CB has certainly seen a decline, thought Ofcom still consider it the emergency system - if you have something on network radio please share. I am not suggesting anything specific, only responding to this venerable thread again as times are what they are. Of the ideas I recall discussing on here befo...

Re: Common "prepper" freq

Both ends of the extremes are free to use, CB for longish distance or open country and PMR for local stuff in built up areas. Given the current crisis, might be worth setting up a time and frequency for everyone to make and keep contact? Some professional radio users are starting to have a weekly me...

Re: Gloves and coronavirus

As said... The only value to gloves is in the immediate situation and as a reminder not to touch your face or other vulnerable areas.

Re: Slugs and snails

I noticed the same, put a beer trap in as soon as I saw them at the greens so now don't know if it is the beer trap keeping them away or their dislike for red lettuce‽

Re: Medical scenario 1

The point about raising legs was in the context of shock. Ahh sorry, must have missed the context. If I may ask, who was running the course? No worries, it came from the rests council IIRC. It is filtering down through instructors but is also one of a number of bigger changes coming later this year...

Re: Medical scenario 1

Better yet before speculating on a fantastic new way to get yourself killed go and get some actual medical training. Raising legs - You do it if the wounds allow it, so depends on the nature and extent of injuries. The whole point is to keep as much blood as possible flowing to the vital organs and...

Re: A simple Plywood Boat

I have built many plywood boats, mostly from this guy's designs: http://www.selway-fisher.com/Canoes.htm You will find the finished boat is much more stable and practical, without needing that much more work. The stitch and tape method works fine with cable ties, which are way easier to get out afte...

Re: Medical scenario 1

It was in the last first aid instructors update, there are a few big changes coming next year too.

Is essence, in first aid, we only raise legs now for a fiend, major bleed from the lower leg, or for a sprain/strain etc.

For shock we just lay them flat or in the recovery position.
