Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

A simple job today. Changing batteries in our smoke alarms and Co2 alarm today. I do that every Easter, then our September wedding anniversary,so every 6 months. I also just check that our extinguisher pressure gauges are correct. 👍 Another often ignored potentially life saving job  mine ge...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

We are currently unprepping, well growing wise at least. We are spending quite a lot of time caring for/feeding and visiting our elderly parents and our youngest has just left home so we no longer have enough time or someone to water the crops whilst we recharge our batteries on holiday. We did hav...

Re: National grid (electric) look to suspend night time call outs to domestic power cuts

I am pleased to say that now we are all electric here, we are covered for emergency power cuts. As I’ve said a lot of this already- my illness makes my memory very poor unfortunately - we are covered now, but I will repeat :D My dear wife has purchased more of the USB charged strip lights as back u...

Disposable ones work when you can’t recharge if there’s a serious power cut! Always got to have a backup.
That and most are 1.2v Vs alkaline 1.5v some electronic bits and bats don't like the lower voltage

Re: Importing medical kits and tourniquets?

If you really think you need one a quick search turns up https://www.firstaid.co.uk/search/?term=Tourniquet . I'm told that some current 1st aid training courses cover the use of these and some don't. Get Training, training trumps gear..... The most important thing is to insure that anything you do...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

I had to look up YMMV but I understand where you're coming from and I certainly can't despite decades of practice claim not to make mistakes. One other advantage of screws is that it can be quieter than nailing which can be a consideration where neighbours might be concerned. Till you break out the...

Re: National grid (electric) look to suspend night time call outs to domestic power cuts

I’m currently sunning myself on the Gold Coast of Australia and I was speaking to a sparky the other day. Last year they had a cyclone/tornado hit the coast and then massive flooding inland which cut people off for ages. As parts are on hills with houses on basically stilts, some water tanks furthe...
