Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Fire plan here is just open a window and climb out. That has its benefits, for sure  My little house has comparatively low ceilings, which makes it easier  though truthfully, I should do some maintenance on the hinges of the double glazing. If I knew what to do (oh good ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Andy that advice sounds mad! What were they actually advising that you *should* do? Blow on it? :? The generic get out and let the fire service deal with it :/ unless your "trained" Mrs A is a chef by trade so knew what to do and I did a fire fighting in the workplace course years back He didn't se...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

It all happens on your street! Thats what I was going to say! Good grief, jansman! I need to get a first aid course - never done one in my life :( But it can't be too long a day, and if I'm to keep the costs down, it can't be too far away either. Sigh ... Anyway, I repotted my fennel (again - it re...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Well... right now I am glad that Mrs J and me are first aid trained. Just seeing daughter away at the front door and a young boy racer on a motorcycle ( too fast), hit the back of a car that stopped. Multiple fractures it seems, but the arm was a complicated fracture and pi@@ing blood. Jan got the ...

Re: Insulation of concrete block shed for external larder

You can often get seconds cheaper ask at your local builders merchants... I got enough for my shed roof from work as they ripped an old building down so you might be able to scrounge some ;) Cheaper option would be a polythene sheet tacked to the wall 2"framing then rockwool cavity batts then board ...

Re: Insulation of concrete block shed for external larder

Depends how much you want to chuck at it... A modern composite door (basically fiberglass and PIR foam) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyisocyanurate Then walls Check pointing and gutters and fall pipes to keep rain off the walls A good cost of Thompson water seal won't harm Roof depending on typ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Yay Andy! Hope it comes back soon. A neighbour knocked on my door today asking if my electricity was back on yet ... I hadn't noticed it had gone off  I found this map, which was interesting in several ways. https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/power-cut/map?incidentid=INCD-91022-Z The power cut...
