Re: Compact Bow Saw

Ah right , I didn't realise it packed away like that . Perhaps I didn't read everything  That makes it interesting.

Re: Compact Bow Saw

Not seen tat actual saw before but on the link are more traditional bow saws with the tensioning rope at the top . Those I'm more familiar with and I'm happy with those so I would think a higher tec one would be ok too ( even if it's a tad more expensive) .

Re: Panic room

I'm a joiner by trade too and screwing all the way through the frame into the brricvkworrk is something I've done as well although I think the first time was when the timber behind the hinge was chewed up fixing to the brick was the only option. I've never fitted a bar though but have seen them and ...

Re: Panic room

Serious question rather than trying to pick faults as I haven't got anything remotely like a panic room. Iff I were to try to build one the logical thing to do in my mind would be to fortify the bedroom ( or bedrooms seeing as my daughter has her own room) . My thinking behind this is should anyone ...

Re: Size does matter...

Cheers , that's the sort of thing I would lean towards daily or perhaps several times a week at least. Therre's always the argument ( that has some validity) that if something is used just once a year but is used every year it's still being used regularly ..

I suppose going back over this thread we could do with a definition of sorts as to what constitutes regularly . Daily , weekly , monthly?

Re: Environmental Prepping - What we can all do locally

Arzosah , that touches on something that I did wonder when I listened to the article on the radio. I fully get the idea of a hedge to soak up pollutants but did wonder how much fossil fuel is burned trimming them and carting it all away. At the risk of being hypocritical here I've been paid on a num...

Re: Environmental Prepping - What we can all do locally

Interesting read. With reference to the section about fencing there was an interesting piece on radio 4 on Friday where it spoke of replacing fences with hedges for environmental reasons and to essentially act as filter and sink for airborne contaminates and co2 . Evergreens seem to work best in thi...

Re: Size does matter...

There's probably some of my friends who would say the smallest thing I use is between my ears :D but to answer the question I'd have to say my Swiss Army knife is the smallest most regularly used item. I do have a p38 tin opener on my key ring but I wouldn't say that falls into the used regularly ca...

Re: Augmenting the stash: Pesto etc.

Think that's like a lot of things if one flavour overpowers everything else. Your mom's pesto and crackers was probably more pesto than cracker but mixed in with other stuff tends to enhance a dish. My wife doesn't like marmite on toast but when I put a bit in the gravy she liked the gravy. I'm pret...
