Re: Anybody know about RATS?

Definately the compost heap and turning it will only have a limited effect as the little buggers will tunnel into it. I mentioned in an earlier post about the rats in the bin , the one i battered with a bucket , that was a plastic bin that i put foodstuffs that i thought would be more attractive to ...

Re: Anybody know about RATS?

...... i grabbed a piece of angle iron and speared it. ........ i basically battered it to death with a bucket. ..... hit it with a shovel. I'm naming you "Death of Rats" Working on old buildings i'd sometimes come across a desiccated rat carcass or even just a skeleton and i had the idea to ...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

What do you envision your near future needs to be and how far ahead do you want to plan for? It's a good question and one that to me questions the whole reason for prepping. To just keep oneself and family alive for the next 20 years is admirable and good for those involved but there's nothing afte...

Re: Anybody know about RATS?

We had rats in the garden a few years ago after an old house a short distance away was demolished. They took up residence in a sheeted up woodpile. I first noticed one in the adjacent compost heap and it shot back under the pile when it saw me. This happened a couple of times and the rat always ran ...

What do you envision your near future needs to be and how far ahead do you want to plan for? It's a good question and one that to me questions the whole reason for prepping. I don't mean the idea of keeping a couple of hundred tins of beans in the house which is the sort of thing most of us do to g...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

Not being religious myself but having some pretty religious family members i have sympathy with Arzosah's position. I suppose it's finding the balance between community and cult. When i think communes and religion i can't help but think of places like Jonestown or people like David Koresh. Arwen , f...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

I re-enact , not viking , but 15th century and tend to lean more towards the living history side of it . I find many parallels . With the fighting side there's short periods of activity and longer periods of waiting around . We portray the support services of the army , the blacksmiths , carpenters ...

Re: Would You Consider Joining A Prepper Inspired Community?

That's all about to change, shortly lots of people currently on furlough will become unemployed and massively overwhelmed by their righteous sense of entitlement. As soon as the employer has to pitch in to the tune of 20% the deadwood will be shed. The honeymoon period is nearly over. On another fo...

Can't help thinking 25% of the population being paid to sit on their arses has taken the edge off this apocalypse.
