Re: Pallet Wood quality Question
Forge I'm impressed that you have salvaged the nails from the pallets. I've pretty much given up on that idea after the twisted mess I've ended up with ( although to be fair having access to stainless fixings from work probably meant I didn't put too much effort into it) and now they either end up ...

Re: Importing medical kits and tourniquets?
If you really think you need one a quick search turns up https://www.firstaid.co.uk/search/?term=Tourniquet . I'm told that some current 1st aid training courses cover the use of these and some don't. Get Training, training trumps gear..... The most important thing is to insure that anything you do ...

One-shot batteries in the smoke detectors, rechargeable 9v's are expensive for something I only need to change once a year.

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question
I screwed the frames together and to each other, but I used nails (mostly recycled from the pallets) to fix the planks. The neighbours have to put up with my backyard forge...... But I have to listen to their power tool collection and crap taste in music (as well as visits from the large daft poorly...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question
I mentioned screws as a preference when solo shed building because banging in nails in one place tends to push everything else out of whack YMMV. Its also easier to pull the thing apart when you notice you've made a fundamental F*****......... Again!

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question
I spent some of my furlow rebuilding one of my sheds (and moving the other two to more efficient positions in the workyard), so heres what I did. From your pallet supplier(s), see if you can blag some plastic pallets. They come in standard sizes, normally Euro (800 mm × 1,200 mm × 144 mm/31.5 in × 4...

Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener
I think Onions, like carrots, have a two year lifecycle.
Year one, lay in food store.
Year two, flower and seed.
We want to harvest them and eat the food store.

Re: Sheathes packing bursting for long term storage
Are you carrying them for other uses, or just the obvious?
Because there are better items for everything else (and you did say grab-bag not baccy-tin mini kit).
As for their intended function, I couldn't possibly comment.

Buying a new(to me) car
Well the title says it all really. After many years service for both me and my late Father, my beloved 2001 Volvo S40 has suffered a serious mechanical failure which is beyond my (limited) skills and funds to fix (I'm told by a non-Volvo specialist that I'm looking at £1500ish..... And there might b...
