Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9

In light of the Russian problem, we decided to go through our stores today. I know we might have left this a bit long, but we were really pleased at our stock levels after the purge. (Purge equals mostly Rice Pudding and Tomato Soup!) Only goes to re-enforce that we should only stock what we use. Go...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

I think we are going to hang fire on receiving this experimental vaccine. I'm a little shocked that most people who post on this website have willingly take part in this trial. If this goes bad, what is the outcome for the UK? I'm speaking from experience, my two Daughters have both badly suffered f...

Re: Mix and Match Covid Vaccination

This was part of a review of the academic papers published in The Lancet by the Oxford/AstraZeneca trial team. It also covered the December Pfizer publication. It showed what 90% efficacy means vs what people think it means. On October 21st, 2020, associate editor of the BMJ, Peter Doshi, wrote an i...

Re: Mix and Match Covid Vaccination

So the NYT, a comic, has been advised to change it's report on the British Governments intention to allow untested Mix and Match of the Covid vaccines. The guidance provided by the Goverment, published by Public Health England, as kindly pointed out by Arzosah, clearly states that this process is ac...

Mix and Match Covid Vaccination

Apologies if this has already been covered, but I thought it was important that we are all aware of what our Government is planning. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/01/health/coronavirus-vaccines-britain.html is an article that shows concern regarding mixing vaccination types, which is totally untes...

Re: Ham Radio Foundation licence

No fees, you don't have to join, the training is run by Steve Hartley, (really nice guy - he wrote the Foundation book and co wrote the Intermediate book) You dont have to live near Bath, the revision is done us...

Re: looking at the TYT UV8000E

I've been using the transciever for a few weeks now. I'm very impressed with them. They look and feel well made. Very easy to operate as compared to the Baofeng units, they have an extra knob that allows you to scroll through frequencies and options easily, very clear sound, and the display is large...

Re: Getting your ham radio license

Just signed up to do the Advanced course with BADL , Bath distance learning, though got the Intermediate exam just after Christmas. Cannot recomend them enough, if you don't have a local club nearby, give them a try. Non profit club, and totaly focussed on getting new people on the air waves.
