Re: What to do with windows in a SHTF situation

Internal wooden shutters as a fashion thing are a possibility, thats true. Very interesting about the outer layer of double glazing! I sort of wonder if thats true, to be honest, as householders usually get prosecuted for causing intentional injury, and if a manufacturer did the same thing, there'd ...

Re: No matter how isolated your bug out property is isn't someone eventually going to come knocking?

Even now modern piracy is a problem so just imagine how bad that would get in a real SHTF scenario. Exactly - look at present day lawbreaking and extrapolate wildly for a shtf scenario. Though the steep sides of a cruise ship would keep zombies off, at any rate  But a nice thought, I'm off...

Re: No matter how isolated your bug out property is isn't someone eventually going to come knocking?

I suppose on the surface ships or planes for that matter would make the ideal bug out vehicle in that they make international travel possible . However , it does make me wonder just what sort of emergency would make this country untenable while leaving the outside world unafffected or relatively un...

Re: No matter how isolated your bug out property is isn't someone eventually going to come knocking?

Oh absolutely its a fantasy, I was mentioning it in terms of Alex Scarrow's apocafic after all  Even switching it on, let alone steering and maintaining. And if someone tried to gain those skills so that they *could* do it, they'd stand out a mile in navigation/ boating/ yachting circles. B...

Re: No matter how isolated your bug out property is isn't someone eventually going to come knocking?

As it is I'm not altogether sure of the validity of the idea that thousands of people will run to the hills . I can imagine a small percentage doing it - the fantasists who think there's enough wildlife in the UK to live off - but I imagine the die-off rate would be tremendous, very soon. It would ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Sorry to hear you're that poorly, jansman - don't do too much while you're ill, that's how it drags on and on (I'm thinking of the firewood chopping - sitting fishing, as long as you don't let yourself get chilled, sounds good!) I've ordered the batteries, and a pyrex bowl to get free P&P....

And I've finally got an appointment to have a flu vaccination. Just read this https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/feb/20/britons-urged-to-get-flu-vaccine-as-critical-cases-rise-above-2000 This year's version isn't as virulent, but its a lot worse if you get it, apparently. The first sentence sa...
