Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

We don’t miss the solid fuels a bit! My best mate down the village is going the same way too. The both of us have physical problems, and coal and wood is just too much hassle now. Tell you one thing if the timber trade doesn't pick up soon there will be no "cheap" firewood this coming wint...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Andy I've had two dry sockets - you never forget that pain  JM funny, we agree re solid fuel. Loved having coal for 40 years but don't miss it now at all. I'm pondering planting tatties. Only prob is that they would be on the shared path we blocked off due to nosy neighbour with screening - ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Pleased to say I am still doing bits and pieces at home. The greenhouse is looking great. The tomatoes and spaghetti marrows in particular! Our ancient rhubarb plants are being processed a bit at a time. We make a rhubarb and garlic chutney of which we grow garlic too. A lovely product. Regarding ou...

Re: Prepper -'lite' or full on survivalist

Full on Survivalists-Wow. Aren’t we all anyway? We get born,we learn,we earn,we get a place to live, some of us have children ,and life will carry on. As is the ‘animal’ way. Be it yourself or your pet dog,you fight to move forward. You are a survivor, regardless. The generation you may be born in and...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Today I am feeling well enough ( for a while anyway :D) so I have tomatoes to repot in the greenhouse, and fleece ready for a cold 24 hours. Also we have a couple of portions of my spicy beef stew to freeze. I can truly recommend that, meals frozen and ready to go. Brilliant! Also have a wall mounted ...

We have a very good chance of frost tomorrow night here in the midlands. Everything fleeced in the greenhouse!

Re: In the event of nuclear war...

Just with regards to 'wanting to die' and the realities of that. Many will not want to survive a nuclear war, but 1. We may not know whether the war is survivable or not. It may be full-on, it may be limited. 2. You will need to make the ultimate decision to live or die in: a/ The lead up to war. S...

As a member of Her Royal Marines back in 1980 we trained for all this Nuclear cr@p. It was a big deal then, and there were bunkers everywhere it seemed. Our general attitude? Give us a beer mate, and sit tight cos here it comes!

Re: In the event of nuclear war...

There’s nowhere to run to. There’s nowhere to hide. The government would in all likelihood impose a travel ban so unless you have a yacht, you couldn’t get out of the country. I can see Edinburgh Castle from my window, it’s the natural aiming point for any missile coming in and Edinburgh is one of ...
