Re: National grid (electric) look to suspend night time call outs to domestic power cuts

Yep agree totally. We're going backwards going forward  Hell, I read books about the wild west and the outback in Australia and people were so skilful at making do and coping. I think the younger ones might have lost those skills but a freezing cold winter or hot dry summer will soon sort ...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

The home-made palletbreaker doesn't bend the most of the nails too badly...... Home made pallet buster!!! Colour me impressed. I'm only half impressed with my palletbuster because it splits so many planks. Did anyone ever s olve that? I have a big box of salvaged nails. They seem the good ribbed so...

Re: National grid (electric) look to suspend night time call outs to domestic power cuts

I am pleased to say that now we are all electric here, we are covered for emergency power cuts. As I’ve said a lot of this already- my illness makes my memory very poor unfortunately - we are covered now, but I will repeat :D My dear wife has purchased more of the USB charged strip lights as back up...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

It’s a ‘bit of both’ isn’t it? When I look at the electronic side,as Yorkshire Andy described,it’s not an issue for us. A bit like ForgeCorvus; smoke alarms and the like. Torches and lanterns to replace lighting in an emergency, and particularly the wicked staircase and landing where we have charged ...

Re: Gas canisters

I have DOZENS wrapped in plastic ( originally) in fireproof boxes in a cool outbuilding ( and fire safe) . 12 years old and perfect. In fact I’ve been reminding my wife how to cook-in an emergency with the same, and the methylated spirit cooker too. ;) The fireproof boxes idea looks interesting. Cou...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

In between my daily rests ,today I have made videos about topics relevant here for my wife. I say video in the loosest way  . Whilst my wife knows how things work, they are not used often,so I’ve made ‘reminders’. The thing is,it makes me happy to know I’ve done that. So today no1 was our p...
