Re: Advice on buying Gold.
Sorry to post three posts in a row, but I forgot to mention something I find quite interesting. China has abandoned the troy ounce this year and minted the Gold Panda as a 30g coin. I bought one each for my children because who knows, but its a bit of a historic coin. Might become a collectable by t...

Re: Advice on buying Gold.
If you are looking to trade paper gold then the easiest way is probably spread betting. I would be very careful spread betting if I was not comfortable day trading. You can do some serious damage to your finances if the market turns and you are leveraged. Some spread betting firms offer substantial...

Re: Advice on buying Gold.
My advice for what it's worth would be to buy UK coins until you build up enough value that you are not comfortable keeping them at home. I would for sure go with UK coins unless you have a collectors interest because of the CGT for billion on hand. Silver coins are tough as they attract VAT if boug...

Re: Wool Blanket Info Please
I am quite a fan of the Italian Army Blankets. I have a couple of them and they are supposed to be 100% wool. They itch like crazy and my kids won't be in the same room as them. Keep you very warm in front of a fire. I like the multiple use aspect of them and the fact that they don't get holes in th...

Re: Which watch to get
Automatic watches is my suggestion. Proper dials with no batteries. That way the watch can also be used for navigation should the need arise, and will not die suddenly from power outage

Re: EMP Letter
whats your end of the world then Jansman? I am not here 'cos of the end of the world. My end is the day I die. When I was a member of Her Majesty's Royal Marines I saw a number of " casualties". Worse still I saw my Dad take two years to die of cancer. It focuses the mind. I store food an...

Re: EMP Letter
Nice write up. I think if the SHTF properly like that, most everyone in the UK, would be at the mercy of the raging crowds. I can't see how the authorities would be able to maintain any sort of control at all. Martial law with curfews and shoot on sight for looters might do it, but when people are s...

Re: Prep or Take
Would recommend caution in the countryside at least. In my village everyone seems to be in to shooting of some sort with retired military mixed in for fun. We would also very likely stick together as we are a very small village and very close. Kids play together and all that. Even the local guitar t...
